TRAVEL & FLIGHTS

Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) is the closest airport as it is about a 15 min drive to Carmel. However, it is a small regional airport so it can be more difficult to find the right itinerary. If you choose to fly into MRY, Ubers and Lyfts are generally available but you may have a longer wait, especially if you arrive late at night. MRY does options for rental cars, too, if you prefer that.

San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is the closest international airport and is located about 1.5 hours from Carmel. If you choose to fly into San Jose, there are a few options to get to Carmel. You can rent a car, or you can book a shuttle through Groome Transportation which will pick you up directly at SJC and bring you to downtown Monterey, where you can catch a short Uber or Lyft to your hotel.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is a roughly 2 hour drive from Carmel depending on traffic.

WHERE TO STAY

In order to maximize your experience, we recommend you book a stay within Carmel-by-the-Sea. The town has so much character and you'll be able to walk to coffee shops, restaurants, shops, the beach, and to explore the charming streets of named cottages nestled among the trees. However we’ve also included some great options for accommodations within Carmel Valley

AIRBNB / VACATION RENTALS

we have had great success with many of the Airbnbs in Carmel and Pebble since they are pet friendly and spacious. Frank has loved stomping around the backyards and sniffing the ocean air.

We have booked directly with this local vacation rental company a handful of times after finding their listings on Airbnb, generally booking direct will get you a better rate.

GOLF!

The number one thing to do in Carmel is golf. The Monterey Peninsula is home to some of the best golf on earth, with the #1 rated public golf course in the world and many other high-level championship courses.
